Chelsea are on the verge of signing Brighton captain and centre-back Lewis Dunk for £40million, according to several reports in England.
Both Daily Mail and The Sun are reporting that the Blues are closing in on the deal for Dunk who is also wanted by Tottenham.
However, it is believed that Dunk would prefer a move to Chelsea as he has been a lifelong fan of the club.
The 28-year-old who has made one appearance for England, has spent over 10 years at Brighton and has impressed for the club with over 306 appearances for the Seagulls.
The club’s defensive struggles last season have been well documented by manager Frank Lampard after they conceded 54 goals in the Premier League last season.

The Blues have expressed interest in signing West Ham’s Declan Rice but his valuation of around £80m has led Chelsea to look elsewhere with Dunk now the preferred option.
The reports seem to have been validated after Brighton advertised their new kit featuring stars like Yves Bissouma, Neal Maupay, Maty Ryan and new signing Adam Lallana but left out their captain Lewis Dunk.
